Friday Fish Fry: What began as a Catholic religious following has now become a stable Wisconsin diet. When earlier European immigrants settled in the state, they adapted their cooking techniques to the local environment. Many avoided meat on Fridays during Lent and taverns began offering weekly fish fry. This was also another way for the taverns to make money during the prohibition. Eventually, the practice became so popular that almost all restaurants in Wisconsin offer fish every Friday.
The Beer Brat: One of the most recognizable foods Northeast Wisconsin is known for is the bratwurst. Many food enthusiasts in the area say the best way to eat them is grilled and soaked in onions and beer. There are many available recipes online, but as a general rule of thumb, great beer brats use enough beer to cover the meat (perhaps three to four cans or bottles of beer).

The Cheese Curds
: Wisconsin is known for its cheese curds. Why? Maybe it’s because there are many ways Wisconsinites like them. Some prefer them fresh, others fried. Either way, cheese curds have become somewhat of a delicacy here. These curds are made from pieces of baby cheddar that have not aged at all or gone through any form of processing. One of the reasons Wisconsin has the best cheese curds is because diners can eat them a mere 12 hours after they are made. Our curds are the freshest in the country.
